DUCTED WOOD BURNING STOVE: WHAT IT IS
A ducted wood burning stove heats the room it is installed in and, through ducts, also carries warm air to other rooms of the house. Among the Klover wood burning stoves, three models are set up for ducting: VENUS 90s CLASSIC, VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS. The product sheets of all three declare provision for twin rear ducting, to heat more rooms.
The three VENUS wood burning stoves declare a nominal heat output of 7.7 kW for VENUS 90s CLASSIC and 8.4 kW for VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS, with an efficiency of 92% for all three models.
Ducting adds no output: it spreads the heat the wood burning stove produces across more rooms. The figure to start from is therefore the nominal heat output, read together with the heating area each product sheet declares.
WHICH KLOVER WOOD BURNING STOVES CAN BE DUCTED
VENUS 90s CLASSIC is the most compact of the three ducted wood burning stoves: it declares 7.7 kW, an efficiency of 92% and a heating area of 75 m². The product sheet presents it as compact and efficient, suited to contemporary spaces, open spaces or modern rustic interiors. VENUS 90s CLASSIC weighs 145 kg.
VENUS 110s declares 8.4 kW, an efficiency of 92% and a heating area of 95 m². The product sheet presents it as powerful and welcoming, with generous proportions and a panoramic view of the fire, for contemporary living rooms, Nordic interiors or minimalist spaces. VENUS 110s weighs 165 kg.
VENUS 110s PLUS declares the same figures as VENUS 110s, that is 8.4 kW, an efficiency of 92% and 95 m², and adds a cladding in technical porcelain stoneware. VENUS 110s PLUS also weighs 165 kg. The three VENUS wood burning stoves share the same flue outlet diameter, 130 mm.
HOW MANY SQUARE METERS A DUCTED WOOD BURNING STOVE HEATS
The declared heating area is 75 m² for VENUS 90s CLASSIC and 95 m² for VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS. With ducting those square meters do not grow: they are shared between the room where the wood burning stove stands and the rooms reached by the ducts.
The calculation therefore starts from the total area of all the rooms the ducted wood burning stove has to serve, to be compared with the 75 m² of VENUS 90s CLASSIC or the 95 m² of VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS. The heating area is an indicative value declared by the manufacturer. The area a wood burning stove actually heats also depends on the insulation of the house, the ceiling height and the quality of the firewood.
HOW TWIN REAR DUCTING WORKS
On the three VENUS wood burning stoves the ducting is rear and twin: it starts from the back of the stove. The product sheets speak of provision, meaning a wood burning stove ready to be connected to the ducts that carry warm air to the other rooms.
Toward the room it is installed in, each VENUS wood burning stove can have twin front ventilation, offered as an option on all three models. The product sheets describe it as an even spread of heat in the room.
The route of the ducts, their length and the rooms to be reached are defined when the installation is designed, together with the connection to the chimney through the 130 mm flue outlet.
HOW WOOD BURNS IN A VENUS STOVE
The three VENUS wood burning stoves have a combustion chamber in Keramik HD refractory, which the product sheets describe as highly efficient and long lasting. It is the same material on VENUS 90s CLASSIC, VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS. The combustion chamber is 560 mm wide and 325 mm deep on all three models.
The ember bed system is declared in the product sheets of VENUS 90s CLASSIC and VENUS 110s, for steady combustion. The product sheet of VENUS 90s CLASSIC speaks of stable, clean and steady combustion, with minimal emissions.
The flame is managed with a single combustion air control, present on all three models, for immediate control. The ergonomic handle is in investment cast steel, and the wide door gives a panoramic view of the fire. On VENUS 90s CLASSIC and VENUS 110s PLUS the panoramic door has high-temperature ceramic glass.
FINISHES AND LOG STORE OF THE VENUS STOVES
VENUS 110s and VENUS 110s PLUS have a large built-in log store under the firebox. VENUS 90s CLASSIC stands on a removable steel base, which according to the product sheet ensures stability and visual lightness.
The finishes of VENUS 90s CLASSIC and VENUS 110s are Soap Stone and Matt Black. VENUS 110s PLUS has a technical porcelain stoneware cladding in the shades Soap Stone, Nero Venato and Moka, for modern living rooms, refined interiors or textured spaces.
