WHAT AN INSET ELECTRIC FIRE IS
An inset electric fire is an appliance that sits inside a recess formed in the wall and reproduces the flame with an LED system: no combustion, no flue. The heat comes from built-in electric heating, which in the Klover e-motion line draws between 1400 and 1600 W, with a supply of 220-240 V and 50 Hz.
The e-motion line has six models in the catalogue: e-motion 70, e-motion 110 and e-motion 150 in the front format, e-motion 100T, e-motion 130T and e-motion 160T in the panoramic format. Widths run from 700 to 1600 millimetres.
None of the six e-motion models carries a front grille, and this leaves the glass as the only visible element on the finished wall.
HOW MUCH SPACE THE WALL NEEDS
The measurement that counts when the recess is prepared is the external size; the one that stays in view once the installation is finished is the firebox. The e-motion data sheets state the two figures separately, width by height by depth:
- e-motion 70: 700x480x250 mm, firebox 600x380 mm
- e-motion 110: 1100x480x250 mm, firebox 1000x380 mm
- e-motion 150: 1500x480x250 mm, firebox 1400x380 mm
- e-motion 100T: 1000x506x298 mm, firebox 995x381 mm
- e-motion 130T: 1300x506x298 mm, firebox 1295x381 mm
- e-motion 160T: 1600x506x298 mm, firebox 1595x381 mm
Depth is the dimension that decides whether a wall can host the fire: 250 mm on the three front models, 298 mm on the three panoramic ones. It is the first figure to check on site, even before the width is chosen.
HOW MUCH AN ELECTRIC FIRE HEATS
The built-in heating of an e-motion electric fire states a rated power input between 1400 and 1600 W. It is heat that warms the room where the fire is installed, and the data sheet expresses it in watts because the appliance runs on electricity.
Control comes from a built-in thermostat from 20 to 30 °C on the front models e-motion 70, e-motion 110 and e-motion 150, from a timer from 30 minutes to 8 hours and from indirect ventilation on 3 levels, stated on all six models.
The e-motion data sheets state separate management of the flame effect and of thermal comfort: the light and the heat are commanded on their own. It is the reason why an inset electric fire is installed also in rooms that are already heated, where what is sought is the flame.
FRONT OR PANORAMIC: THE TWO SHAPES OF THE FIREBOX
The e-motion line splits into two formats. The front models, e-motion 70, e-motion 110 and e-motion 150, have the glass on one side only, a height of 480 mm and a depth of 250 mm.
The panoramic models, e-motion 100T, e-motion 130T and e-motion 160T, have a modular panoramic, front or corner configuration: the same appliance changes the number of visible sides according to how it is fitted. It is the format that resolves the corner between two walls.
The flame features differ in the two formats: 10 colours and 4 speeds on the front models, 6 colours and 3 speeds on the panoramic ones, which also state independent lighting of flame, embers and logs and the speaker with crackling effect.
HOW IT IS COMMANDED
All e-motion models have a touch display on board. On the three front models the touch display is backlit and comes with an infrared remote control supplied as standard.
On the three panoramic models the command is a radio remote control with LCD display, alongside built-in Wi-Fi as standard, which connects e-motion to the home network. On e-motion 100T, e-motion 130T and e-motion 160T the data sheets also state weekly programming and open window detection.
WHERE IT CAN BE INSTALLED
e-motion is born for rooms where there is no flue. The data sheets of the line indicate the city apartment, the bedroom and the open space on the upper floors, and outside the home the showroom, the restaurant, the office and wellness areas.
What is needed is a recess in the wall of the right size and an electricity supply at 220-240 V. These are the two conditions to define with the designer before the model is chosen, because the width of the firebox is decided by the wall and not the other way round.
