Ducted wood burning fireplace: the Klover models

A ducted wood burning fireplace heats the room in which it is installed and, through a system of ducts, also carries the warm air into other rooms of the home. Among the Klover wood fireplaces, the ductable models are ORION 800, ORION CORNER R, ORION CORNER L and FRONTAL BLOK 950, which the technical data sheet rates at 12.5 kW of nominal heat output, and the STARBOX 650s, STARBOX 750s and STARBOX UP 650s inserts, which are ready for double ducting.

Ducting does not add output: it distributes across several rooms the heat that the wood fireplace produces. The figure to start from is still the nominal heat output, read together with the heated surface area declared on each data sheet. The heated surface area applies with dry wood, a compliant flue and a home with average insulation. The final calculation, including the route of the ducts, is made by the technician on the real data of the home.

ORION 800 is ductable to up to four rooms, as are ORION CORNER R and ORION CORNER L, the two corner versions with a view of the fire on two sides. The three ORION wood fireplaces declare 12.5 kW of nominal heat output, an efficiency of 85.2% and a heated surface area of 120 m², with a 200 mm flue outlet.

The airtight structure of ORION 800 is ready for combustion air to be drawn from outside, and it preheats that air before it enters the refractory combustion chamber. Combustion air adjustment is millimetric on all three ORION fireplaces. ORION 800 measures 89x56x154 cm and weighs 325 kg; ORION CORNER R and ORION CORNER L measure 97x65x139 cm and weigh 315 kg.

The panoramic ceramic glass of ORION 800 opens either as a guillotine or side-hinged, for loading wood and for cleaning. The flame stays in the room with the fireplace, while the ducted heat also reaches the others.

FRONTAL BLOK 950 is the Klover wood monobloc with four dedicated outlets, which allow natural convection or ducting towards different rooms. With natural convection the warm air rises and circulates without fans; with forced ducting a fan pushes it through the ducts. For each of the two solutions Klover offers dedicated optional kits.

FRONTAL BLOK 950 declares 12.5 kW, an efficiency of 85.2% and a heated surface area of 120 m². It measures 107x55x178 cm and weighs 400 kg. The 200 mm flue outlet can be at the top or at the rear, and the guillotine door in panoramic ceramic glass offers a wide, continuous view of the flame.

The airtight structure of FRONTAL BLOK 950, with a dedicated combustion air intake, and the millimetric air adjustment allow precise control of the intensity of the fire. The data sheet indicates FRONTAL BLOK 950 for large living rooms, open spaces and contemporary architecture.

The STARBOX 650s and STARBOX 750s wood inserts have double front ventilation and are ready for double ducting, rear ducting in the case of STARBOX 750s, to heat several rooms. STARBOX 650s declares 7.7 kW and 75 m², STARBOX 750s 8.4 kW and 95 m², both with an efficiency of 92% and a 130 mm flue outlet.

The four-sided front frame integrates the STARBOX inserts into a wall or into the furnishings, and the removable lower frame of STARBOX 750s also adapts to three-sided installations or to custom built-in solutions. The combustion chamber is in Keramik HD refractory and wood combustion is indirect. STARBOX 650s measures 67x42x49 cm and weighs 100 kg, STARBOX 750s measures 70x45x54 cm and weighs 110 kg.

STARBOX UP 650s, the suspended version with a wall-mounted structure, declares 7.7 kW, an efficiency of 92% and 75 m², and is equally ready for double rear ducting.

Among the Klover pellet fireplaces, WAVE 11s and WAVE 11s WOOD have a Multi-Air version for dedicated ducting. Both declare 10.1 kW of nominal heat output, an efficiency of 92% and energy class A+, with overall dimensions of 78x60x75 cm and a weight of 170 kg.

On WAVE 11s, Cyclone ventilation is adjustable over 5 levels and the patented Pellet Cruise Control system optimises combustion. WAVE 11s is installed flush with the wall or in an existing niche, with an adjustable frame, and the touch remote control with programmable thermostat makes it possible to set times and temperature. The front of WAVE 11s is in steel, in the Bronze and Matt Black finishes; WAVE 11s WOOD has a natural wood front, in the Rovere and Blanc variants.
